DBR's Statewide Short-Term Rental Registration is NOW open

As a result of a new law, all rental properties, units, or rooms that will be listed on a third-party hosting platform and rented for not more than thirty (30) nights, are required to register with the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation. Please visit DBR's website, for more information, FAQs, and to apply for a registration:

  1. Short-Term Rental Website
  2. Short-Term Rental FAQs
  3. Short-Term Rental registration

The Department encourages Third-Party Hosting Sites and Real Estate Brokerages to share this notice with your clients.

NOTE: The state registration requirement is independent of any municipal short-term rental registration requirements. State registration is required irrespective of whether a municipality requires short-term rental registration or fees.

Should you have any further questions, please email DBR's Real Estate Section at [email protected] .
