Your questions answered
General questions
Do I need to register for online statements?
No you don't. If you're a registered user of the ANZ App, Internet Banking or Internet Banking for Business, you'll receive online statements in addition to paper for all linked eligible accounts. You can also choose to change your statement preferences and go paperless.
What types of ANZ accounts are eligible for online statements?
Eligible accounts for online statements include:
- Personal everyday banking and savings accounts
- Consumer Credit Cards
- Home Loan and Personal loan accounts
- ANZ Business One (Business Visa Cards)
- Business everyday transaction and savings accounts
- Business loan accounts.
Determine if your account is eligible for online statements by viewing the full list here:
You can view online statements for an account in Internet Banking if you are:
- The primary cardholder (if it's a consumer credit card other than ANZ Business One)
- The Principal, Directory or signatory (for ANZ Business One credit cards)
- The primary owner of the account
- The sole owner or a nominated joint owner
- A signatory or an Authorised Enquirer or Director for an ANZ Business One credit card
- A direct or an indirect trustee
- A third party signatory/power of attorney of a business account (except ANZ Business Loan account) or a personal everyday banking or savings account.
For ANZ Internet Banking for Business, the user must be granted access on the account to be able to view online statements.
Why am I not eligible to view online statements?
If your authority on an account falls under certain categories you will not be eligible to view online statements. For example:
- If you are the secondary cardholder for a consumer credit card
- If you are the secondary cardholders for commercial credit cards (and you’re not a signatory or an Authorised Enquirer or a Director)
- Accounts to which you are a Beneficiary
- Accounts to which you are a Guarantor.
Note: This is not an exhaustive list of account authorities or account categories for which online statements are not available.
Can I get online statements for accounts not linked to my ANZ Internet Banking?
No. Online statements are only available to accounts linked to your ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business.
- Link or delink a personal account
- Link or delink a business account
How are online statements different than viewing the transactions in the transaction history?
Online transactions display the most current transactions. This transaction record is not an account statement.
Online statements, on the other hand, are scanned copies of paper statements generated periodically (monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly/half yearly) dependent on the statement end date and other legal requirements.
Is there a fee for a replacement statement and can you email it to me?
There is currently no fee associated with replacement statements.
For accounts that are eligible for replacement statements (except credit cards), you can choose to have the replacement statement(s) emailed to a valid email address.
Card statements
What is the difference between "Processed" and "Transaction Date"?
Processed refers to the date the transaction was processed in to your account by ANZ.
Transaction Date refers to date the transaction was carried out by the merchant.
Transactions will only appear after the merchant processes them and forwards the details to ANZ for processing.
How can I tell whose card was used to make a payment?
When viewing your statements, the last four digits of the ANZ credit card number used will appear under Card used. This will help you identify which card was used for a particular transaction.

What happens when I have multiple copies sent to other parties?
If you switch off paper statements, this means that a person who previously received paper statements for an account:
- will not receive paper statements for that account if they have authorised access to that account in the ANZ App and/or ANZ Internet Banking; or
- will continue to receive paper statements for that account if they do not have authorised access to that account in the ANZ App and/orANZ Internet Banking.
What happens to my online statement if I remove an account from the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking?
We suggest that before you remove any accounts from the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking, ensure you have reset your statement preferences to Paper and online. This way you’ll continue receiving statements by mail.
What happens to my online statements if I close all of my accounts?
You will lose access to historical online statements if all accounts linked to the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking are closed. Before closing your accounts, we suggest you:
- Save electronic copies to your computer or print statements
- Update your account preference settings to Paper and online, which will ensure you receive any final statements in the mail
Note: There must be at least one active account linked to the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking to view online statements for eligible accounts.
Why am I receiving a paper statement after I opted for "Online only"?
Here are some situations when your statement preferences for an eligible account may be reset back to Paper and online from Online only:
- Where a credit card linked to your ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking is registered as lost or stolen
- Where there is a change to the number of signatories on an eligible account
- When an overdraft has been added or removed from an existing deposit account
- For eligible accounts with multiple account holders, the statement delivery preference will change when one party has changed the statement delivery preference.
You may also receive a paper statement if there is a problem with your email address. Please double-check that it is correct. You should also ensure your inbox is not full and that it's not rejecting emails from statement@anzcommunications.anz.com.
What happens to online statements if I lose my credit card?
You should report your lost or stolen credit card immediately by:
- Blocking your card and reporting a lost or stolen card via the ANZ App
- Calling 1800 033 844 (International callers +61 3 8699 6955) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Your historical account statements for transactions made using the lost/stolen card will still be available to view online via ANZ Internet Banking.
When your new credit card is issued, ensure you link the new card to ANZ Internet Banking.
Because your original card was lost or stolen, your statement preference for this account may default back to Paper and online.
Remember to update your statement preferences if you prefer to receive statements Online only.
Changes to your statement cycle for accounts with ANZ Visa Debit cards
We will start sending your statements at least once every six months instead of every two months for accounts with an ANZ Access Visa Debit card or ANZ Business Visa Debit card.
I've received a letter/email from ANZ about changes to my statement frequency. How can I be sure it's from ANZ?
We have recently notified customers about changes to their statement frequency.
If you think you've received a hoax email, SMS message or phone call claiming to be from ANZ, visit our Report suspicious activity page.
What if I want to receive statements more often than every six months?
You can ask us if you want to receive statements more frequently. Please contact us if you would like to receive your statements more often.
How can I view my statements?
You can view your statements, any time, in the ANZ App, Internet Banking and Internet Banking for Business. If you have ANZ Transactive, visit: online business banking services.
How can I monitor my transactions?
You don’t need to wait for your statement to monitor transactions on your account. You can monitor your transactions in the ANZ App, Internet Banking and Internet Banking for Business. Easy-to-follow instructions are available on register and log in to online banking. If you have ANZ Transactive, visit: online business banking services.
What if a transaction doesn't look right?
We recommend you contact us to raise a dispute as soon as possible. For more information, visit: view or dispute transactions.
Troubleshooting
Why can’t I access my statements?
If your account is eligible for online statements and you see the error "This account is not eligible to receive online statements" it’s likely due to one of the following reasons:
- You’re not the primary cardholder of the credit card
- You’re not a signatory on the account
- A system error occurred and we were unable to determine eligibility at the time (try again sometime later).
Why can't I open my online statements?
If you can see a list of your online statements but you're having problems opening them:
- Ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed
- You'll also need to have your pop-up blockers disabled and JavaScript enabled to correctly open your PDF online statements in a new window or tab.
- If you want to download the statement to your desktop, you'll need to select Download from the View statements function and then again when viewing the statement.
Why do I get an error when trying to view a PDF?
If the error indicates the file is corrupt, please try upgrading your version of Adobe Reader.
Why are my online notices not appearing?
As we are in the process of digitising our notices, some notices may not yet be displayed in the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking. There are also some notice types that will continue to be provided by mail only. When new notices types are digitised, they will be available to view in the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking by following the steps above.
Some notices will continue to be provided by mail.
